Frequently Asked Questions

Keto Physicians Network

Can work with my own doctor?

Keto5 believes that the "optimum ketosis" for each patient must be tailored to their individual health needs. This is the principal reason why Keto5 products are available only through physicians and other allied healthcare professionals. Our Keto5 Medical Network actively seeks to engage physicians to join, acquire knowledge and training to become an expert at medical ketosis. Your personal physician if not already a member of our network is welcome to join and may contact us and a Keto5 team member will guide your doctor or allied healthcare professional to becoming a member of our network.

If you do not have a physician you may contact us and a member of our team will recommend a physician in your local area. Keto5 also offers a telemedicine option to speak with one of our physicians.

Who’s in the Keto5 medical network?

The Keto5 medical network is comprised of US licensed physicians who have completed the Keto5 medical network training program and understand the optimization of ketosis in healthcare. These individuals are in both primary care and subspecialty care as well as other allied healthcare professionals including psychologist, psychotherapist, sports physiologist, physical therapy and rehabilitation medicine.

Can I do this while training for a marathon?

Runners know, carbohydrates are the primary fuel. However, with carbohydrates—the body just can’t store enough for the whole race. Marathon runners end up hitting the wall, or “bonking,”. Once you run out of carbohydrates, your ability to produce energy drops dramatically and you have to slow down. Cutting-edge exercise physiology research has suggested that taking “exogenous ketones” as a supplement might allow your body to lean more heavily on ketones during exercise, without having to restrict your carbohydrate intake.

Are fruits and veggies OK to eat?

Fruits that are high in fructose can affect the ketosis level. Fruits such as oranges, watermelon, pineapple mango and other high sugar containing fruits should be avoided or significantly reduced. Other fruits such as blueberries, kiwis or raspberries contain high antioxidants and less sugar therefore more desirable in a optimized ketogenic diet.

Green vegetables that grow upward from the ground are often the best for ketosis. Spinach, asparagus, and kale are examples of high antioxidant beneficial vegetables. Root vegetables such as carrots, beets, daikon, and yams that contain high carbohydrates and sugars should be avoided.
